School run turns into a cat walk for mothers at Irish schools
The school run is fast turning into a cat walk for mothers taking their children to school in Ireland.
According to findings by Debenhams, more than 60 per cent of women felt pressurised to compete in the fashion stakes.
A total of 37 per cent of mums dolled themselves up to drop off their children before returning home to change into more comfortable and practical outfits.
Tracksuits on the school run were a complete no no for 79 per cent, 88 per cent would not leave without make up on and 57 per cent said Uggs were not appropriate footwear.
A total of 1 hour and 15 minutes was spent during the day just getting ready for the school runs with mascara and lip gloss seen as an absolute must.
Spokesperson for Debenhams Karen Nason said:”We were staggered with the findings.
“It seems for many being a model mum isn’t just about debating whether nurture or nature is the best approach to childrearing. Now modern mothers, it seems, have the added pressure about what women’s clothes you wear at the school gate as well. “
