The World Reimagined Public Art Event Bristol

Shoppers in Bristol will probably have noticed a large globe in the midst of Broadmead stores. It’s part of a public art event running across the world until October.

The World Reimagined, is running from 13 April until 31 October 2022 in seven cities across the UK – including Bristol. Ten globe sculptures designed by different artists will form a free art trail aiming to get communities talking together to make racial justice a reality through social change.

The Globes have been created by artists from across the UK, including Bristol, each bringing their creative styles and different experiences.

This one is Under The Skin, created by Bristol street artist 3DOM. The artist says: ‘For this piece, I wanted to show the world in layers, and in doing so show the history of the routes of the Transatlantic Trade in Enslaved Africans, and where our people were taken from and displaced to. I hope we are able to begin to understand the size of this operation and the impact it had and still has on the history of our earth.’
