Child benefit helps pay the bills finds Bounty

Child benefit is essential for families to survive, finds research by the Bounty Parenting Club.

According to its members, more than half of parents are using the benefit to help pay for their family’s food and household bills.

A further 40 per cent put the cash towards their child’s clothing and activities whilst 16 per cent paid it into a savings account for their child’s future.

Shockingly, 1 per cent of mums admitted to selfishly using the money to spend on treats for themselves and not putting it towards the benefit of their children or even family.

The Government have have just frozen the rate of child benefit for the next three years, but Bounty spokesperson, Faye Mingo believes the cash is important for families to survive financially.

She says: “It’s clear from speaking to our members that child benefit is universally vital for so many families.  On a positive note, mums with young families are often the most ‘savvy shoppers’ as they’ve had to get used to having less disposable income, through taking maternity leave and having to get buy on one salary.”
