Acupuncture may help pregnant women with indigestion
Acupuncture may help relieve indigestion during pregnancy suggests new research.
During pregnancy, between 45 and 80 per cent of women suffer from heartburn, stomach pain and bloating due to hormonal changes in the body.
A study published in Acupuncture in Medicine, suggests that pregnant women may benefit from acupuncture to help relieve symptoms.
A trial randomly allocated 42 pregnant women suffering with indigestion to receive either conventional treatment, or conventional treatment plus acupuncture once or twice a week.
The women who had sessions of acupuncture were found to have less severe symptoms and needed less medication than women treated only by conventional means.
