Bristol City Council Written Statement of Action For Send Inspection Still Hasn’t Been Published
Bristol City Council Written Statement of Action to improve Send in the City so far remains unpublished
The Written Statement of Action (WSoA) Bristol City Council was forced to submit to Osted and the CQC following the result of its local area joint Send inspection in October 2019 remains unpublished.
Bristol City Council had three months to prepare its WSoA, a response to the ‘significant areas of weakness’ in the city’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (Send) provision.
The deadline to prepare the WSoA and submit it to Ofsted and the CQC was the 23 March 2020. Speaking at Bristol Schools Forum in January, Director of Education and Skills Alison Hurley said that they were likely to submit that ‘slightly’ earlier because of possible purdah issues with the then forthcoming mayor elections.
Once Ofsted and the CQC have decided a WSoA is ‘fit for purpose’ and approved, a local authority will be given authorisation to publish it, but until that time it remains embargoed.
Last week, Bristol City Council assured us that the WSoA was due to be published this week, but so far it has not done so.
Hi, there is no statutory obligation for us to publish the WSoA this week so due to the current situation and the Easter bank holidays we have decided to publish the WSoA next week so the team is in place and ready to respond to any queries. Thank you for your patience on this.

Bristol City Council will have 18 months to deliver the improvements it has specified in the plan which will be monitored by the Department for Education and NHS before the city is reinspected between October and November 2021.
