Bristol Trump Protest Disruption Warning:

Bristol residents are being warned that traffic disruption may result from a peaceful protest planned for the city centre today.

The peaceful protest is due to take place from 5pm at The Fountains opposite the Bristol Hippodrome.

Avon and Somerset police warn that a number of groups are planning to protest against the visit of the US President who is visiting the UK.

The protest is expected to impact upon the College Green, Park Street and Clifton Triangle areas, with a further difficulties spreading out across major routes.

Insp Martin Rowland said: “We have a long and proud history of helping to facilitate peaceful protests, particularly in Bristol city centre.

“Our aim is to facilitate the protest while also balancing the needs of people who live, work and visit the city.

“We want to make people aware there may be some disruption during the evening commute and would encourage people to consider their travel plans and avoid travelling through the city centre during the times the protest is expected to take place.

“Ongoing liaison with the respective groups taking part in the event tomorrow will continue right up until the event.”
