Fire at The Heart Foundation Charity Shop Broadmead Bristol

Bristol Charity Shop Fire Broadmead:

A large charity shop in Broadmead Bristol, remains closed today, after fire took hold in an upper floor of the building yesterday morning.

The British Heart Foundation store on The Horsefair, only opened its doors to the public on 26 June last month.

Multiple crews from across the area closed off roads from Union Street, leaving buses stranded outside of Debenhams and streets closed to traffic for several hours.

Crews from Temple fire station,  Bedminster, Avonmouth, Patchway and Kingswood with a  command control worked to bring the blaze under control.

Fire broke out on the first floor of the building, with crews responding just after 7am on Wednesday 11 July.

Avon Fire and Rescue said the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.

Six firefighters in breathing equipment needed two jets, a turntable ladder and a high-pressure hose to put out the flames

Two positive pressure ventilation fans were further used to clear smoke from the building.

The store remains closed today, with first floor windows boarded up and obvious fire and water damage to the front commercial property.
