Bristol Telephone Box New Bleed Kit Location
A vintage telephone box has been placed on the Broad Quay side of Bristol City Centre, which will be home to a Trauma Kit – also known as a Bleed Kit.
Bleed Kits were first introduced to public locations in Bristol back in in 2022 following public campaigning by families affected by knife crime.
There are now over 150 Bleed Kits across Bristol following a roll out by Avon and Somerset Police, NHS England South West and HeartSafe.
The current locations of Bleed Kits can be found on the HeartSafe website: https://www.heartsafe.org.uk/bleed-kit-map/
Bleed Kits are in public spaces for people who are suffering significant blood loss through traumatic injuries or knife crime. They allow emergency first aid to be administered before the arrival of emergency services.
The Bristol City Centre Bleed Kit provides a high visibility place to find the life saving packs.
A similar traditional telephone box in St Paul’s has been repurposed for the same reason, providing both a defibrillator and a bleed kit on Portland Square.
