Children get twice as much exercise on holiday
The excitement of being on holiday leads children to get twice as much exercise as they do when at home.
According to a poll of parents by Eurocamp, 69.1 per cent of children are getting more than seven hours of exercise a week whilst on family breaks.
This meets current recommendations that all children take part in at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
Though most parents questioned in the survey said their children when at home managed to do four or five hours of activity every week, 26 per cent of parents admitted that theirs did less than four hours.
Though parents generally blame the lack of time or money for involving their children in extra activities, Eurocamp discovered it was more likely to be the bad weather stopping them from getting out and getting active.
