Tots invited to splash about and raise cash for Tommy’s Splashathon 2010
Young children across the UK are being invited to make a splash for charity this summer.
The Tommy’s Splashathon 2010 will be taking part in around 300 UK pools between June and August.
Babies and preschoolers can be sponsored to splash their way across the length or width of the pool during the free event.
The event will help to raise funds for Tommy’s, a charity funding research into pregnancy complications such as miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth.
This year the Splashathon is being sponsored by children’s swimwear specialists Splash About.
Last year’s event raised £277,000 and the charity is hoping to improve on the amount this year.
Every youngster managing to raise more than £50 and returning their sponsor form by 31 August 2010 will receive a special prize, with the tot raising the most cash overall being awarded a prize pack full of swimwear goodies worth £200 from Spash About.
Chief Executive of Tommy’s, Jane Brewin says: “Currently 1 in 4 women will lose a baby every year in the UK, so we really value each little splash made throughout Splashathon, as theses splashes raise money that will ultimately go on to save babies lives.”
