Chopsy Baby is reviewing… Aldi Mamia Ultra Dry Nappies, Sensitive and Normal Baby Wipes

Supermarket Aldi, once seen by many as a cheap budget shop is enjoying a renaissance amongst families looking to make cuts in their shopping bill without compromising on quality.

One of the biggest dents in the wallet for parents bringing up babies and toddlers is the essential nappies.

Caroline Trelawney tested out Aldi Mamia Ultra Dry Nappies size 4 and Sensitive and Normal Baby Wipes with seven-month-old son Connor.

Caroline says: “I am no stranger to supermarket own brands and Aldi is pretty much one of the last stores left for me to try out. To be honest, I haven’t encountered a bad brand yet from any of the big name brands such as Pampers and Huggies or Tesco or Asda.

“I found the Aldi nappy exactly as I expected to. A good quality nappy that is equal to others available. I found Connor fitted the size 4 best when he was closer to eight-months of age. I used them during travel, over night and generally through the day.

“Importantly for me, the side tabs opened up and stuck down well. With a different brand I have used recently, the tabs kept ripping off rendering the nappy useless.

“They didn’t leak during the night and are a good fit for when he is crawling and coasting. There was a couple of incidents where poo did leak, but in fairness to the nappy, Connor had gastroenteritis and I don’t think any nappy on earth would have coped with what was exiting from the rear.

“Connor didn’t get nappy rash or any soreness during the trial time we used them.

“Price wise they are a bargain. And because of their price and quality I will buy these again.”

“While I was testing out the Mamia nappies, I also tried out the Sensitive and Normal Baby Wipes. Baby wipes need to be soft, moist, strong and wipe without poo seeping between their fabric.

“The natural baby wipes are excellent. Soft, strong and coped brilliantly. They had no fragrance and caused no skin reactions.

“Whilst I wouldn’t normally use a fragranced wet wipe, I see no point, I did try out a packet of Aldi’s normal wipes too. Whilst they caused no skin reaction, I did find the fragrance a little over powering, smelling something like washing powder.

“They did their job perfectly and are worth buying, though my preference would have to be the Sensitive wipes.”

Best of all…
Aldi nappies are soft, strong and will cope with most of what comes out the bottom end of a baby. I couldn’t tell any difference between Aldi and the leading brands.

Could improve…
The only nit-pick would be the normal baby wipes smelt a little strong.

Basically…
Aldi Mamia Ultra Dry Nappies, Sensitive and Normal Baby Wipes are a great set of products with a low price. Perfectly capable of standing up to the bigger-boy brands.

You can buy from…
