A Horrid Factbook by Francesca Simon and illustrated by Tony Ross. The book is one in a series of Horrid Factbooks with this one looking at sport. Did you know Olympic gold medals mostly made of silver and there is a sport called Chess Boxing?

Now Horrid Henry is not every parents’ cup of tea, usually very far from it. But in terms of books, this one isn’t actually that bad. Ideal for the seven plus child, the book is full of quite interesting sporting facts. Interesting enough that even a parent would fancy a five minute gander whilst drinking a coffee or waiting for the washing machine door to unlock. Each fact is short and sweet averaging three lines of text with Tony Ross’ illustrations interspersed throughout.
