Day out in Bath
Georgian Bath is a really spectacular little city and tourist hotspot. There is plenty to see and do for free.

Royal Victoria Park is beautiful. It is perfect for a picnic in the summer and has a huge play park for toddlers through to teenagers. Inside the park is a duck pond, acres of park land and a botanical garden all for free.

Along the road is the stunning Crescent and Circus. Going further into the centre of Bath the quaint roads house all manner of interesting shops as well as the high street stores. Bath Abbey is free to enter, with a suggested minimum donation. There are performance artists scattered through the city performing everything from fire eating, clowning, to string quartets playing Mozart.

Day Out
If you go to Bath by First Great Western trains, then visit their website first. You can download vouchers for 2-for-1 entry on Bath’s tourist attractions presented with your train tickets. You can get as many vouchers as you like, and for the pricey tourist attractions in the city, it makes financial sense. Getting the train from Bristol may be cheaper than getting a First day South West bus ticket.

Bath gets busy quickly, and weekends and holidays is one long fight with tourists from all parts of the world.
The Baths are busy beyond belief everyday. To access the history you have to take a mobile device around and press the buttons at the right points. This is very difficult if your toddler has decided to descend into a grand tantrum because you have to stop him from paddling in the baths. You can’t take a pushchair around the attraction but there are backpacks available. Though this is understandable it is difficult to deal with an impatient toddler who doesn’t want to shuffle through the place but walk at his fast pace.

If you have a toddler who is in a right mood than this visit will be hell. You will have every nation under the sun judging your parenting skills and techniques, and ignoring their disapproving looks or incitement to smack the child is harder than dealing with the tantrum itself.
The Roman Baths are one of city’s gems, and well worth a look if you are feeling patient and tolerant. They are rather spectacular and it is amazing to be walking through something so well preserved that existed so many centuries ago. This tourist attraction is good for ages 6 +
