Do you have an Alibi?
“If you have been out and about in Bedminster recently then you may have noticed the scourge that is blighting the streets. It’s disgusting, they are everywhere. I phone up the council to get them taken away. I worry about Infections, aids, her picking it up, it makes me really angry they are left where any child could get hold of it.”
Louise, mum of one, is talking about discarded hypodermic needles used to take heroin then left lying around the streets of Bedminster.
This is a topic that is very close to her heart, and so we thought she would be the perfect person to try out new drink Alibi, a pretox drink with links to the POM 354 charity.
The creators of this drink came up with Alibi as a way to prepare and help the body before we stress it out rather than afterwards.
This is a genius idea. Forget the nights out partying, the marathon run or the stressful day at work. These are nothing when compared to parenting a child who has reached the terrible twos and is making the most of every second.
Alibi is a drink for parents, so we cracked open a couple of tins to try it out.
Louise said: “It’s quite nice. It’s really nice actually. It’s carbonated spring water that is lightly flavoured but it’s got a bit more arse to it than most and it’s got a really nice aftertaste.
“The design of the can is also quite nice; it’s got nice colours. It’s all very nice and it doesn’t make my teeth go funny like when I drink Coke or Sprite.
“It would be a better alternative in shops instead of those drinks and you can recycle the can easily not like one of those trendy bottles.
“It’s a very refreshing drink and I can see myself buying it.
“I like the fact that this pomegranate flavoured one donates money from each can sold to POM 354.”
POM 354 is a charity helping farmers in Afghanistan to stop growing the poppies needed for heroin production and to grow pomegranates instead. For every can of drink sold, Alibi will fund the conversion of three poppy plants into pomegranates. This will target the biggest opium supplier in the world, meaning that for every can sold there will be one less shot of heroin on the streets. That’s worth drinking to.
