Get safety advice on using baby slings Consortium urges parents

Parents are being urged to get advice on safely using their baby slings as two products have been recalled.

The Consortium of UK Sling Retailers and Manufacturers recommend that parents using ‘bag style’ baby carriers should contact the manufacturers if they have any safety concerns.

Users should also talk to other parents to get advice on how to best use it.

The Infantino SlingRider and Wendy Bellissimo slings in the UK, Euorpe and North America have just been recalled.

Spokesperson for the Consortium of UK Sling Retailers and Manufacturers, Rebecca Ward says: “The majority of baby carriers and slings are still safe to use, if they hold baby in proper alignment and fit snugly by design and instruction. These safe designs of sling include shallow pouch-style slings, ring slings, soft carriers and wrap slings.”

“While we are unaware of any fatalities in the UK in these bag style slings at the present time, we would caution against using them in light of the recall”.

Parents using bag styled baby carriers can get advice through local babywearing group Sling Meet.
