Government cuts blamed for parents taking children on holiday during school time

Parents have done the maths for sometime, and who can blame the 46 per cent now taking their child on holiday during term time to save money.

But despite powers to financially penalise parents, 47 per cent said their school turned a blind-eye and 46 per cent said their school wasn’t happy but didn’t do anything about it.

With financial pressure mounting through 2011, 53 per cent of parents will be spending less on family travel this year, with 44 per cent directly blaming the government spending cuts.

The findings come from a survey by TripAdvisor, who questioned more than 2,000 parents across the UK.
