Half million pound park project goes ahead in St Pauls

A half million pound investment into a park project has been given the go ahead by council planners.

St Paul’s Adventure Playground and St Agnes Park’s new design has been drawn up by St Paul’s Unlimited Community Partnership with input from children and young people in the local area.

A pedestrianised street will now safely link both the park and adventure playground. An improved well lit cycle link will be created and new play equipment and provisions for children with special needs will be included.

The Green Spaces for People Big Lottery Fund put £263,000 towards the project, along with £250,000 from the  Department for Children, Schools and Families, ‘Fair Play Pathfinder’ investment programme.

Cllr Gary Hopkins, Executive Member for Environment and Community Safety, said: “This is an innovative scheme combining much needed environmental improvements to a traditional city park with investment in a vibrant adventure playground, linked by a new inner city public space that maximises play opportunities for children and enhances shared public space for all. Through community involvement these designs have ensured that the improvements create better and safer neighbourhoods that reflect the real needs of local people.”
