Majority of Parents Now Looking Forward to School Term
We haven’t got to that point yet, but Thursday 18 August is supposed to be the summer holiday ‘breaking point’. Sadly, this is the day when the majority of parents wish their children could just go back to school.
A total of 2000 parents took part in the survey from Intu, with the majority of 59 per cent saying that it was after the three weeks and four days point that the bickering became intolerable.
Constant complaining about being bored was the main reason for looking forward to September. This was followed by running out of money and ideas to keep them entertained.
A six in ten parents whined about finding the school holidays too stressful and 15 per cent didn’t look forward to them at all.
Parents also found constantly untidy houses and children missing their friends along with bad weather even more reason to look forward to the approaching autumn term.
The full top 10 reasons parents start to look forward to the return of school were found to be:
1. My children complain they are bored all of the time
2. I run out of money to entertain them
3. I run out of ideas of things to do
4. My child/children start to argue all the time
5. The house starts to look like a rubbish dump
6. My child/children start missing their friends
7. We all miss the normal routine
8. The weather means many days are spent inside
9. I’m just absolutely exhausted
10. The whole family argues more
