New money advice guide to help pensioners with fianance

A new advice guide has been launched for older people and their families to get help with money worries.

A 34 per cent of people aged 65 years and over in the South West run out of money to live on by the end of the month.

This causes 11 per cent to worry about how to pay for their help or support.

A 37 per cent in the South West have never checked if they are eligible for Pension Credit or Council Tax Reductions.

Pension Credit can boost the income by £41 extra per week.

Independent Age has now launched the new Moneywise guide which aims to provide practical advice about raising income and saving money.

Director of Services at Independent Age, Lucy Harmer said: “These results clearly show that many older people in the South West are worrying about their finances and don’t always know who to turn to for advice. Topping up your income becomes much more difficult the older you get, but bills still need to be paid. However, there is help available.
