Review: Let’s go to School – from Leap Frog

Let’s go to School is a brand new DVD out today, aiming to allay the fears and answer the questions of little ones off to school for the first time.

Running at an attention span friendly half hour, the story follows sibling frogs Tad and Lily as they are taken on a magical tour of their new school by firefly Edison.

Created by educational toy specialists Leap Frog, Tad and Lily find out about Phonics (for new parents who got by with the ABC, this is the latest method on learning to read), counting, days of the week and how to enjoy school days.

Yes it’s a little American, but the principles are still the same for both sides of the Atlantic. Starting education in either a full time nursery place or reception class is daunting for both parents and child. This DVD is a fun and gentle way to introduce youngsters to school, whilst being pleasantly tolerable for parents. It’s not irritating, patronising and contains easy on the ear foot tapping songs to sing.

Chopsy Baby invited a group of children aged three – four years of age who were going to be starting nursery or reception class this month. All children enjoyed the DVD and asked for it to be repeated several times.

The DVD will work as an aid to introducing your child to going to nursery or school, working alongside school visits and home visits from teachers.

Special features include an interactive alphabet book and added support documents for parents on the Leap Frog website.

LET’S GO TO SCHOOL is out on DVD 6 September 2010 priced at £9.99
