Kirstie Davies and her five month old son Leo tested out the Organix vegetable pouches
Organic Parsnips, Spinach and Broccoli
Kirstie says: “This was a clear favourite with both Leo and myself. It tasted nice with plenty of spinach flavour. I think this is important in getting them used to tasty yet not too sweet foods to begin with.
“I liked the pouch, but didn’t like the cap. I thought it was a bit dangerous. But the pouch is lightweight and will be useful for feeding Leo on the go.”
Organic Sweet Potatoe, Red Peppers and Swede
Kirstie says: “This was another good recipe. It was sweeter than the first one and I think Leo enjoyed this more. I tried squeezing it right onto the spoon this time and it was possible to do this without a mess. This is really useful as I have to travel with him by train very often and don’t have much space and can’t make a mess.”
Organic Butternut Squash, Sweetcorn and Carrots
Kirstie says: “This is the first time I have seen sweetcorn in baby food and it’s really great. It is naturally sweet and Leo really went for this. Again, another tasty recipe we both liked.”
Abbie Gately and one-year-old son Toby, tested out the Goodies, Organic Fruit and Water Apple and Blackcurrant drink
Abbie says: “I still use a sippy cup with Toby because this is all he seems to cope with at the moment. But there have been times I have given up trying to find it in the disaster of clothes on the floor in shops after he has thrown it from the pram.
“Being able to grab one of these bottles from a shop is then really useful. The lid is close enough to a sippy cup and the contents are far more natural than similarly bottled products.
“Toby liked this drink, though I wasn’t so sure, obviously having a sweeter pallet.
“I Didn’t like the top most plastic lid though. Too much of a choking hazard for the age group it’s aimed at.”
Best of all…
The food is organic and the flavours are nice.
Could improve…
The caps on the pouches and the plastic lid on the drink are not great and could present choking hazards. Other brands have managed to avoid this.
The preparation and storage guidelines are too small and right at the bottom of the pouch.
Basically…
A nice range of organic first tastes for a baby, with a lower price tag than comparable other products.
