Sailing and social activities at Cowes Week
Since 1926, Cowes Week has grown into one of the largest sailing regattas of its kind and its just one short ferry ride away to a novel British staycation.

The Artfull Dodger by Rick Tomlinson
Running from the first until the eighth of August 2009, more than 100,000 spectators will come to enjoy the sailing, atmosphere and social activities.
The sailing is free to attend as a spectator, but if the boating bug bites you then check out the Cowes Week website. Anyone who can sail can register their interest to join a team. Alternatively, those who are love racing can ‘Come Racing’ for just £10 per person.
To get there, Red Funnel operate a hi-speed ferry service (23 minutes) between Cowes and Southampton giving fast access to the excitement of Cowes Week from Southampton. Trains from London to Southampton take little more than an hour, and motorway links with the rest of the UK are excellent. In addition, a dedicated Cowes Week service also operates between Lymington and Cowes, courtesy of Blue Funnel.
The Isle of Wight also has a variety of accommodation from boutique hotels to holiday houses and camp sites. Visit www.gowight.net or www.islandbreaks.co.uk for further information.
The Jury’s Inn, Southampton is offering family rooms to accommodate 2 adults and up to 2 children under 12 from £94.00 per night during Cowes Week. This includes accommodation and English breakfast for the whole family. This special price will be available for all bookings, with a minimum of a 3 night stay. In addition for all bookings made before 10th July they will be offering a discount card offering 10% discount on all food and beverages purchased in the hotel during the stay. www.southamptonhotels.jurysinns.com
