Teachers know who naughtiest children will be from names on register
Teachers getting to know their new class this term may have already made judgements on the children simply by looking at their register.
According to research from Bounty, one in five teachers claim they know how a child will behave by their name.
Aaron, Callum, Abbie and Courtney usually belong to the naughtiest children, according to Bounty’s findings.
Boys named Joshua, Kyle and Reece usually fail to obey rules and Abigail, Bethany and Amy are some of the hardest to manage.
Spokesperson for Bounty.com, Lisa Penney said: “Rightly or wrongly, it’s only natural to make some assumptions about what children may be like from hearing their names – whether you mean to or not – and teachers aren’t any different.
Whether it’s from previous experience with pupils, or people they’ve known from their own past, certain names seem to strike a nerve with teachers.”
Teachers also revealed that they label a child as naughty if they refuse to do as they are asked.
Two out of three teachers said they felt naughty children were just looking for attention and three out of five teachers thought it was because the child was not being disciplined at home.
But, more than a third of teachers found the naughtiest children seemed to have the most friends at school.
