It’s coming back to the theatre where it all began. Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s production of Mary Poppins, is returning to The Bristol Hippodrome more than ten years after it launched the show’s World Premiere.

The show will start a tour of the UK and Ireland in October this year, arriving at The Bristol Hippdrome from 29 October until 28 November 2015.

Casting has not yet been announced, but the original pair of Laura Michelle Kelly as the magical nanny and Gavin Lee as Bert, delighted Bristol audiences in the dark re-telling of PL Travers’ popular stories.

Cameron Mackintosh announced he was ‘delighted’ to be bringing the show back to The Bristol Hippodrome and promises new thrills in the latest staging, saying: “Since we originally staged the production we have found even more magical ways to stage this timeless tale and I’m sure you will find our new Mary practically perfect in every way”.

The original staging was brought together by some of the finest creatives, including a book by Downton Abbey creator, Julian Fellowes, co-direction and chorography by Matthew Bourne and design by Bob Crowley.

It’s going to be a ‘hot ticket’ to get hold of, according to The Bristol Hippodrome’s Marketing Manager Steve Jones, who says: “The World Premiere of Mary Poppins in September 2004 here at The Bristol Hippodrome was an incredibly special time for us all where sell out Bristol audiences really took her to their hearts. We have no doubt again that theatregoers will be equally thrilled to hear Mary is returning and I cannot urge everyone enough to book early to avoid the disappointment that many have experienced on other recent productions.”

Tickets for the show are now on sale, priced from £22.50 upwards.
