Butlins review: The Return of the Great British Holiday
For sometime, Butlins, has become synonymous with elements of the UK’s ‘chav’ culture. When we think of holiday camps we think of shivering chalets, Hi-de-Hi and entertainers who are ridiculed by Simon Cowell on the X-Factor. We are warned of beer swilling, football louts who ignore their children to go outside and eat their fast food with a fag hanging out of their mouth.
It was not long before we saw the familiar white cow udders reaching up into the sky
With a little trepidation, Chopsy Baby, took Britain’s most cynical family to the Butlins resort in Minehead for the opening weekend of the season. The weather was cold and miserable, the sky was grey and it was not long before we saw the familiar white cow udders reaching up into the sky. We were worried about what we had let ourselves in for. Could it really be as bad as people say?
