Wade Street The Scene For Large Emergency Services Response Again
Wade Street reopens after major response to a welfare situation
Another major incident greeted local residents on Wade Street this morning, as they woke up to find the entire street cordoned off to traffic. The incident spanned the entire length of the busy main road behind Cabot Circus car park, from the bottom of Houlton Street to Lamb Street.
Police, Avon and Fire and Rescue Service as well as an ambulance were called to the scene shortly after 6.30am this morning in response to a man sitting on roofing forming part of Logos House.
During the incident, police requested demolition work on the former Wade Street garage was paused whilst they dealt with the situation.
At around 9.20am, the man was taken down from the roof with the street fully opened to traffic by 9.30am.
The incident was not out of the ordinary for Wade Street. The area has particularly suffered with austerity, dwindling support services and a lack of funding.
Just a week ago, another incident saw Wade Street closed to traffic and pedestrians. Many of the recent stabbings in Bristol have been within or along the border of St Jude’s, which has a range of complex issues.
