Walking back to happiness with Chung Shi shoes

Chung Shi shoes are designed to tone your body, and make it work harder when walking. They achieve this by having an inbuilt “Pilates-System”, reflexology bar in the centre, and 15 degree curved sole.

When walking in these trainers the body should burn off more calories then when walking the equivalent distance in a normal pair of shoes. Legs and tummy are supposed to become more toned and posture improved. It even claims to reduce cellulite!

Initially the wearer should start wearing them for around 30 minutes a day, gradually increasing to as long as you like.

They are quite expensive for an average parent and would be an investment. We decided to give them a go to see if they really worked.

We tried out the black pair. They are not the style of trainers I would normally wear but they are not offensive looking either. They are quite high off the ground, but nothing compared to Buffalos worn in the days of yore.

They are actually a very comfortable wear. It takes a little while to become used to them especially with the reflexology bar, but they are not uncomfortable in any way. Because of the added height off ground, and the effect it has on your centre of gravity, we would advise not to use them too soon after childbirth when your muscles and joints are still so relaxed.

When first wearing them you do get Bambi legs. They are tricky to begin with and best not done when the children’s Matchbox car collection is spread liberally across the entire floor.

When walking you can really feel the back of your legs and bum working harder. It is a good feeling though because you know you are getting the benefit and you don’t have to put in any extra effort.

What really impressed me with these trainers is that when wearing them I had a large improvement in the amount of day-to-day pain suffered due to a back injury sustained as a child.

They are the ideal walk to work shoe, though I wouldn’t fancy them in the morning scrum at Victoria. They do make your legs work harder, whether they reduce cellulite remains to be seen. If you are looking to become more active then you will see these results by regular walking eventually in any case. But buying these trainers may increase the speed of these results and also be the motivation you need to do it.

When worn full time it is highly likely that you will reap the benefits that the shoes claim. I however, am very much a boot person and don’t wear trainers regularly. Wearing these trainers is something I personally planned into my daily routine.

A good time to use these shoes if you don’t want to make them your excusive daily footwear is to keep them for certain missions. The school/nursery/playgroup run, or a situation when you are walking that little bit faster each and every day is a good time to set aside for their use.
